Fairies: From Sugar Plum to Lilac

posted Sunday, 31 December 2006

Over at the NYCBallet the wand is about to be passed from Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker to Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. The only dancer I can think of who is doing both roles is Tess Reichlen, tall and elegant - she is one of my favorite dancers. I'm excited to see her and many others. There will be quite a few different casts. Jenifer Ringer, who you see here in this picture will be absolutely lovely as Aurora! There are lots of SAB students in the production and Lydia is in the luxurious first act, lavishly dressed up. She has been told she needs to get to the theater every night 3 hours ahead of time to start getting on her make-up and wig! Magic! May all your wishes comes true in 2007. Happy New Year!
